About Our Herd

Longleaf Fiber is a small-scale goat farm located in rural middle Georgia. What started out as a small herd of Nigeran Dwarf goats to help clear kudzu vine has grown into a larger mixed breed herd. We focus on American Nigora Goats for fiber but we also have some senior Angoras, along with a few Nubian-Angoras. Goat math is very real at Longleaf!

The herd includes five F1 Nigora goats that produce fiber twice a year. American Nigora Goats are a purpose developed breed that combines the milk making ability of Nigerian Dwarf goats with the fiber making ability of Angora goats. They are perfect for grazing on small acreage.

We use regenerative practices to raise healthy, happy goats that help restore the soil and manage invasive plants. Nigora goats fit in perfectly with our family's goal to support native plants and pollinators while still adding value from their milk and fiber. They are also impossibly cute and entertaining!
